Imagine Grinnell provides organizational leadership for a wide variety of environmental and conservation related programs. These range from simple volunteer efforts to more community wide green initiatives. Past and ongoing efforts include:
Organize annual volunteer initiatives for spring cleanup of the Grinnell Area Recreation Trail and city parks
Sponsor Youth Conservation Corp workforce and volunteers to help preserve the Arbor Lake watershed, rain garden and Mark Hudson Prairie Preserve
Funded the Energy Library which provides books and periodicals on conservation through the Drake Community Library. The Energy Library also includes two Energy Toolkits with infrared thermometers, light meters and kilowatt meters which the public can use free of charge to do home energy audits.
Spearheaded the Alliant Energy E-Community program in Grinnell which resulted in community wide reduction in power consumption and an incentive award from Alliant of $271,000 to use towards ongoing environmenal and quality of life projects.
Organizational oversight of the Bioneers Conference and Grinnell Area Petroleum Replacement Initiative (GAPRI)
Organized the first Grinnell recycling center and worked with the City of Grinnell to implement curbside recycling
Provided volunteer support for community ewaste collections until ewaste recycling became available locally
