Meet The Board
-

Ellie Arseneault
I am a retired elementary teacher of 30 years. I have been an avid cyclist for 16 years and I’m excited to be part of all of the Imagine Grinnell riding projects, from helmets, to gravel rides, free rental bikes and trail building.

Jason Dillon
Jason Dillon is a licensed general contractor and the President of Grinnell Remodeling Inc., serving the Grinnell area since 2015. With a B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa and nearly 30 years of experience in the building industry, Jason is committed to safe, high-quality community development. He serves on the Imagine Grinnell advisory committee to help lead initiatives that create a healthier, more sustainable, and more connected Grinnell. When he is not busy working, he loves to cycle with his wife, Karen. They both enjoy local gravel group-rides, The Prairie Burn 100, the full-Ragbrai (on odd years), and scheming to cycle while on vacation, bringing a strong perspective to Imagine Grinnell’s programing involving cycling as a means of driving community as well as tourism to Grinnell.

Tim Ellsworth
I’m a retired stone and tile contractor from the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area. I joined IG to work on the permanent Skate Park fundraising effort. I’ve enjoyed developing Prairie Burn weekly bike rides and the yearly gravel bike and Fun Run event. It’s been great to help IG become Grinnell’s Tree Advocate with our post derecho efforts. I love partnering with the city and local businesses to make good ideas become new Bike and walking Trails, better parks, better solar systems, and better community gardens. My current focus is building new trails in the parks. And riding bikes with my friends!

Roger Hill
Co-Funder and VP of INCA Energy Efficiency, based in Grinnell.
I joined the board of Imagine Grinnell because of the programs I knew about - Rock Creek Bike Trail and the energy efficiency tool kits at the library and the Eagle Scout Project ideas they shared and supported with Scouts in Troop 313. Once on the Board, I see all the other ways IG improves the city- trees, trails, gardens and community bike rides - to name a few.
I am happy to continue my work on the Energy Efficiency and solar programs to make Grinnell a more affordable and pleasant place to live.
-

Steph Lair
As a community member and parent, I joined IG to help ensure our town remains a place where families want to live, work, and play for generations to come. Watching our team organize and plant 1,000 trees after the derecho was both inspiring and a powerful example of the impact local organizations can have. I also enjoy seeing Prairie Burn 100 come to life each year even as a non-gravel rider, I appreciate the strong sense of community the family-friendly event creates.
-

Holly Petlon
Holly has resided in the Grinnell community for the past 14 years. Before landing here she lived in Washington and Colorado. She is a native Nebraskan that will always cheer for her beloved Huskers through the good times and bad.
Holly’s passions include fitness, gardening and hanging out with her family. She is a Wellness Supervisor for UnityPoint Health Grinnell and is also currently the secretary for Imagine Grinnell.
-

Jim Powers
I recently retired after a career of marketing Grinnell College for 37 years. My experience with promoting a non-profit aligns nicely with the need to elevate the programs and benefits Imagine Grinnell brings to the community. Additionally, I partner with another Board member to manage the needs of the Giving Garden at Marvin Garden.
-

Katy Wells
Katy Wells is the owner and manager of Double You Marketing, a consultancy based in Grinnell. Katy is proud of her involvement as a Prairie Burn 100 organizer, which began with her involvement on the Imagine Grinnell committee in 2019. She is especially proud of the event’s growth and the community's enthusiastic participation in this unique outdoor event.
-

Katie Witt
Katie Witt is a Program Specialist for Iowa State University's Urban and Organic Agriculture programs. After serving as Marvin Garden Coordinator with Imagine Grinnell, she joined the Advisory Committee because she believes IG is creating a more sustainable future for the Grinnell community.
-

Lesley Wright
I was the founding director of the Grinnell College Museum of Art, retiring in 2021 after 22 years. Being an active part of my community has always been important to me, and I joined the Imagine Grinnell board to continue to give back and be involved. Our work on TreeCorp is fantastic, especially following the derecho, and I’m excited to be more involved in Marvin Garden and the Giving Gardens around Grinnell in order to share good food and gardens with my neighbors.
